Monsters, Inc. (2001) / The Cabin in the Woods (2011) - We have a 23-19!

It was bound to happen. For the first time in 103 episodes, Dan and Brian had a catastrophic recording mishap. Nevertheless, they persisted, and completed another outing of "Violent Ends," a comparison of two films with similar premises but divergent endings: This time, two films about being in the horror business. Join as they discuss the horror-comedy extravaganza of The Cabin in the Woods and the scream economy of Pixar's Monsters, Inc.

Anne of Green Gables (1979) - Japan with an ’E’

In the fourth week of "Animonth," Dan and Brian take a look at some international animation -- specifically, anime. Dan gives a brief overview of pre-1990 Japanese animation before introducing a delightful and pastoral Isao Takahata adaptation of the 1909 novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery. They approach the series via the feature length edit of the show's first 6 episodes. Join as they celebrate the loveliness and gentleness of the show, as well as its robust emotional inner life and discuss a few other (existing and imagined) Anne adaptations.
